Gravesham Community Leisure (GCLL) is seeking to recruit a Recreational Assistant to assist the Duty Manager in the provision of the highest possible quality of service to our customers both in terms of facility presentation, health and safety, plant, machinery and equipment at Cascades Leisure Centres.

Key responsibilities

Keeping the facility clean, tidy, and safe for use, which includes cleaning, setting up, and taking down equipment.

Supervising activity sessions and ensuring the safety of customers in various areas, particularly in “wet-side” facilities like swimming pools.

Handling customer inquiries, providing feedback to management, and promoting events and classes.

Responding to emergencies, and providing first aid when necessary.

Setting up, maintaining, and storing equipment such as sports nets, trampolines, and seating.

Essential skills and qualifications

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to assist visitors and handle inquiries.

The ability to provide first aid in an emergency.

A high standard of physical fitness is often required.

Depending on the role, this can include a swimming or lifeguard qualification, or the ability to operate and explain the use of sports equipment.

The ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.

We also look for integrity, a can-do attitude, health and safety knowledge, and a customer service focus, combined with relevant professional qualifications such as NPLQ and FAAW
